Our story · Made in West Michigan

It all started with taco night.

In 2019, I was chopping toppings for a simple dinner and ran out of room on my cutting board. That everyday frustration became SwivelServe®.

01 · The problem

One cutting board. Five toppings. Not enough room.

It was a normal weeknight in 2019. I was making tacos for my wife and me: onions, tomatoes, peppers and lettuce.

The board filled up fast. I had to stop, scoop each ingredient into its own bowl, wipe the board and start again. Soon the counter disappeared under bowls.

After dinner, the leftovers went into more containers for the fridge. More dishes, more space, more cleanup.

The old way

  • Chop until the board is full

  • Scoop into separate bowls

  • Carry it all to the table

  • Move leftovers to containers

  • Wash everything

02 · The idea

“There has to be a better way.”

That thought stuck with me. What if the cutting board sat right on top of the serving tray?

You could chop, then slide each ingredient through an opening in the board into its own compartment. Turn the board, add the next one. Lift the board off, and the tray is ready for the table. Press on the airtight lid, and leftovers go straight into the fridge.

That idea became SwivelServe, built around the Exclusive SwivelServe® Rotating Cutting Board. Prep, serve and store, in one system.

The board rotates. The tray stays put.

The opening in the board lines up with one compartment at a time.

03 · Three years of persistence

Built one paycheck at a time.

I didn't have investors or a manufacturer behind me. I had a marketing day job, more than seven years in corporate and small-business teams, and an idea I couldn't let go of.

For about three years, I funded research, design and prototypes from my own paychecks.

I had a lot to learn: engineering, materials, sourcing, manufacturing. I learned it one question, one call and one prototype at a time.

~3 years

of research and development, personally funded from 2019 to 2022

04 · Taking the leap

November 2022 changed the plan.

That November, I was laid off from my marketing job.

I could have shelved SwivelServe and looked for the next role. But I'd put three years into it, and I believed in it. So I built a company around it.

In 2023, I founded Tegriware. It was exciting and a little scary. Some days it still is. That's part of building something real.

05 · What the name means

Tegriware means Integrity in Houseware.

It's the standard I hold every decision to: how we design, who we work with, what we say about our products, and how we treat the people who use them.

06 · Proudly made in Michigan

Made close to home, on purpose.

I chose to build SwivelServe in Michigan. Every tray, lid and cutting board is made here, by partners I can visit and hold to a high standard.

Trays, lids and HDPE boards are made in Grand Rapids. Maple and walnut boards are made in Holland. Working close to home means I can see the work, fix problems fast and support the communities around us.

09 · A note from Devon

Thank you for being here. SwivelServe® started with one frustrating taco night, and a lot of people helped turn it into something real: my wife, the friends and family who tested every prototype, our manufacturing partners in Grand Rapids and Holland, and every customer who took a chance on a new product.

I want people to feel good about the products they bring into their homes, and to know how those products are made and the company behind them.

That's what Tegriware means to me.
